Keyboarding

The typing tutorials and games online are a great resource for anyone, especially for the classroom.  These free websites are perfect for everything from learning to type for the first time to helping an experienced keyboarder improve speed and accuracy.

Learning to type can be frustrating, but a couple of websites like typingweb.com, typingclub.com, and typingstudy.com allow you to start gradually and work your way up a lesson at a time.  Some of them will even keep up with your progress if you want work on it over a period of time.  These would be great for teaching younger kids as an introduction to keyboarding.

For someone with more experience there are some fun sites like speedtypingonline.com that will allow you to quickly test your typing skills.  You can also continue to exercise your skills to improve speed and accuracy by taking more of these pop-up quizes.

And for the gamer inside everyone, there are typing sites like freeonlinetypinggame.com and typingmaster.com that help you build up your keyboard navigation skills in a competitive, fun environment.  Since you are competing against yourself and working toward building a skill, it is a great way to have fun while learning.  This could be a wonderful tool for the classroom and the home.  The only drawback I saw to these sites is that with some of the games you have to enter your name and email address to play.  But not all the games require it.

  1. Very nice comments as far as they go. For future reference, when commenting on a particular site, describing what you see and how it is played is far more informative than rather generalized opinions. :-)

    Thanks!
